Blackburn Rovers goalkeeper Paul Robinson was forced off during last night's Carling Cup victory over Everton due to a calf injury.
"Robbo came off after about 15 minutes, he has a bit of a sore calf," Rovers boss Paul Ince told the club's website. "He'll go for a scan on Thursday and we'll find out the result then.
"He came off pretty early so hopefully it was at the right time. Fingers crossed that he'll be okay for Saturday, we've had so many injuries I can't believe it, I don't know if I've done something wrong."
But the Rovers boss was delighted with the performance of replacement goalkeeper Jason Brown as well as his centre half duo of Andre Ooijer and Zurab Khizanishvili who were given their first outing together of the season.
"Brownie came in and did ever so well. Andre made some great tackles and Kish looked as composed as you ever can be.
"So it was pleasing, it is another clean sheet and that is important, especially after Saturday to get another clean sheet. So now we look forward to Newcastle."
