As a player, Ince controversially left West Ham for Manchester United in 1989 after coming through the ranks at Upton Park.

"The game is not about West Ham and Paul Ince, it's about us getting a result," the Rovers boss said in the Daily Star.

"I looked at the fixtures when they came out and noticed straight away that West Ham away was the third game in.

"The trip to Upton Park was the one that stood out to me for some reason, although I can't think why!"
