Blackburn boss Ince disappointed by McCarthy comments

Blackburn Rovers boss Paul Ince will not consider selling Benni McCarthy, despite being disappointed with the striker's comments about wanting a move to Sunderland this week.

Ince said: "Benni is a very good player and will be staying.

"He is still short of match fitness but once he gets fit and sharp there is no reason why he can't play a major part for us this season.

"Every club in the Premier League has 24 to 25 players but you can only select 11 to start every week.

"The ones that played at Everton have got the shirt because they performed well but it doesn't mean that the same players will start every week.

"The competition is there because you need it. It keeps you on your toes.

"You want people vying for a place and when they are not in the team, you don't want them sulking but working even harder.

"I accept that the comments are out there. I haven't spoken to Benni about it yet, but every week, there seems to be something negative coming out of Ewood Park.

"I think it's time we started talking about something positive."
