Blackburn Rovers boss Paul Ince believes Matt Derbyshire is capable of playing for England.

"There are not many young England strikers around at the moment," said Ince.

"Theo Walcott can be classed as one but Matty is probably the one around who can get behind people, in the old-fashioned way.

"He has two good feet and is a very good player. Fingers crossed he will progress to the senior side and I don't see why not. At the end of the day he has to score goals and if he keeps doing that he will do well.

"He will learn and he is only a young kid. It was great to see him come on and score the goal. The way he can sniff out a goal, makes him one of these people you have to have in your squad.

"If he keeps doing that at the end of the day I will have to play him but it is all in good time."
