Blackburn Rovers boss Mark Hughes has confirmed he is looking to strengthen during the January transfer window.

The Ewood Park outfit have been distinctly quiet this month, despite the departure of Welsh firebrand Robbie Savage to Derby.

"We are in the market, we are looking for players and if we can do something sooner rather than later, then that settles everybody down," he told the club's official website.

"It does get harder to find the right players. The quality that is needed now to improve my squad and my team is exceptionally high. Those players don't normally come onto the market in the January transfer window.

"When you look at some of the prices that have been paid in the January window, we can't compete with that price.

"But we keep going. We are doing exceptionally well at the moment and we are pleased with our form and our position. There are a lot of games to play and a lot to look ahead for."
