Blackburn boss Hughes: Sunderland must meet Savage price

Rovers are reportedly holding out for £1.75m with Sunderland favourites for his signature and Rovers boss Mark Hughes admitted interest from the Stadium of Light.

"It's well documented Sunderland have expressed an interest in Robbie but up to now haven't matched our valuation.

"They may well do that in the next few days and then we'll make a decision but other clubs have also expressed an interest.

"It's certainly not cut and dried."

"We aren't trying to push Robbie out of the door as he has been great for us here."

Sunderland boss Roy Keane had a different take on the situation stating categorically, "We haven't bid for Robbie Savage.

"We've had one bid for one player turned down last week, but I'm interested in lots of players."
