Blackburn boss Hughes seeks extra transfer funds

Blackburn Rovers boss Mark Hughes admits he needs extra transfer funds to take the club to the next level.

"We need a bit more investment this year than we have done in recent years," he told BBC Radio Lancashire. "There are a group of clubs in that middle tier that can be top of that pile and it's important we stay there."

"We've done well to bring the right quality in," said Hughes. "But it becomes harder and harder to keep doing it.

"We do the best with what we've got," he said. "Players know that if they come to Blackburn Rovers they've got an opportunity to get better.

"With a good platform, they can achieve their ambitions here and we're pleased with that."
