Blackburn boss Hughes: Resting Santa Cruz important

Blackburn Rovers boss Mark Hughes says it was "important" to rest Roque Santa Cruz for Sunday's 2-2 draw with Fulham.

Hughes hopes the Paraguay international will return refreshed tonight against Aston Villa.

"Roque needed the break because he has played a lot of football and at his previous team he was only playing now and again," said Hughes. "He has played almost every game here, so it was important. I have a lot of striking options and a lot of tough decisions to make.

"Villa are playing well. They are a threat up front with John Carew and a lot of pace in and around him. They are nice and solid at the back as well. But our home form has been great and it is the key to us having a good season. If we can keep getting maximum points at home we will do that."
