Blackburn Rovers boss Mark Hughes insists there's no reason to fear a summer Intertoto Cup campaign.

"I think we all accept that the Intertoto benefited us," Hughes told the club's official website.

"Certainly with the start that we had this season, we always felt that having played competitive games in pre-season helped us.

"We want to be in Europe again, ideally we would like to get a UEFA Cup place from a league position.

"So if we can do that then obviously the Intertoto doesn't come the equation.

"We always aspire to have European football every year now and the Intertoto Cup is a good route in."
