Blackburn Rovers boss Mark Hughes admits Benni McCarthy has suffered this season because he's been played out-of-position.

Hughes praised striker McCarthy for his two-goal display during the 4-1 win over Bolton on Sunday.

"I thought his play was excellent," Hughes said of the South African. "His game has suffered as I've asked him to different roles but he caused them problems all day long."
