Blackburn Rovers boss Mark Hughes believes he has a big prospect on his hands in defender Martin Olsson.

The Sweden Under-21 international helped his team to a 3-0 Carling Cup win over Birmingham City in his first start, after previously making a substitute appearance in the UEFA Cup win over MyPa-47 last month.

Hughes said: "I thought he was excellent. "He's a young player that we have high hopes for, he's a good athlete and technically he's good enough so we are looking for him to progress now."
