Blackburn Rovers boss Sam Allardyce won't rush the debut of new signing Yildiray Basturk.
The Turkey midfielder is well short of match fitness after being frozen out at Stuttgart this season.
"He isn't physically capable yet of competing at this level," Allardyce told the Rovers website. "We will put him through what we call a mini pre-season training programme and that will hopefully progress his fitness.
"It may be sooner rather than later, but I don't want to put the pressure on him by saying 'it is going to be next week or the week after'. Let's leave it three weeks or so and then see from there.
"We want to make sure that when he does go into the team he is capable of showing the ability that we know he has got.
"His determination and desire to play here was a major reason why I wanted to bring him in as well as his ability."
