Blackburn boss Allardyce turns to Portsmouth striker Crouch

Blackburn Rovers boss Sam Allardyce is ready to bid for Portsmouth striker Peter Crouch.

The Daily Star says Allardyce has been told he will receive a huge chunk of the £18m Manchester City paid for Roque Santa Cruz's services.

And he is now weighing up a move for Portsmouth's Crouch as he bids to boost his side's firepower.

Allardyce is a long-term admirer of the £11m-rated England international and has tried to sign him several times in the past.

He was ready to make a move for Crouch if City had met his asking price for Santa Cruz in January.
