Blackburn boss Allardyce receives special praise from Robinson

Blackburn Rovers goalkeeper Paul Robinson has heaped praise on manager Sam Allardyce, giving him plenty of credit for the way things have turned at the club.

The Lancashire outfit has risen to mid-table after being relegation battlers last season and Robinson puts most of it down to the influence of Allardyce.

"It has been some turn around in a fairly short space of time hasn't it?" said the Rovers goalkeeper. "I think that's down to the manager. You have to give him a lot of credit.

"I definitely believe the club is heading in only one direction now, and that's upwards. You've seen the manager's track record in the transfer market and the players he has brought in here in a short space of time.

"If you think back to when he first came in, we were adrift at the bottom of the league table. Now we are looking at that top half and taking points against the likes of Chelsea and Manchester United.

"Maybe some of the fans didn't take to him straight from the beginning, but if you consider what he's done to this club, he has put them back on a platform to being where they were a couple of seasons ago - top half of the table and maybe pushing for a European spot.

"And, given time, I'm sure you will see us pushing on again next year."
