Blackburn Rovers boss Sam Allardyce says the academy is producing good talent after Phil Jones' winning debut in last night's Carling Cup clash with Nottingham Forest.

He said: "It is a thrill to see a young man make his debut in a competitive game, we've seen Junior (Hoilett) and now we've seen Phil Jones, we saw Aaron Doran last year. So there are one or two younger element here at Blackburn that we hope will continue to push on through into the first team squad.

"He was the star of the night, he was the shining light in a good solid performance and a 1-0 victory and that all important clean sheet."
