Blackburn Rovers boss Sam Allardyce is delighted with the response of Benni McCarthy over concerns about his weight.

Allardyce said: "Benni's reaction was great. We've upped the level of fitness and I feel he's ready for the first team now.

"We know how talented he is - that's not in question. It's about getting him on the field and able to produce that talent."
