Blackburn boss Allardyce 'concerned' after Chelsea hammering

Blackburn Rovers manager Sam Allardyce said he was 'concerned' and felt he was back to the drawing board after his side were demolished 5-0 by Chelsea on Saturday.

Allardyce refused to blame the Swine Flu virus that his swept through his squad for their inept performance at Stamford Bridge and is now looking to improve plenty of things in the Rovers' game.

"I am very concerned. And I am upset about that the fact that we continue to be so easy to beat away from home," he said.

"It's not about the getting beat, it's the way we are getting beat that concerns me the most. I'm back to square one again.

"I thought in the first half they worked hard and were a bit unfortunate to be behind after Gael Givet's own goal. But after that it became the old Jekyll and Hyde job.

"Playing in the Premier League is more than just the ability; it's about the mental side. You can only play in the Premier League if you have that mental toughness and resilience. The ability comes after that.

"I can't understand the mentality of my players losing what I asked them to do.

"My players have to realise that's going to have to stop because they are going to lose their place in the team here if they are not careful.

"They are putting themselves up for being dropped again.

"We want them all saying 'You can't drop me, I've got the shirt, someone else is going to have to take it off me, you have to fight for it.' It's not difficult to change the team at the moment.

"What can I do at United next week? Probably try to play 13!"
