Blackburn Rovers boss Sam Allardyce is convinced former Tottenham fullback Pascal Chimbonda will prove a quality signing.

Chimbonda made his Rovers debut in the 0-0 draw with West Ham and Allardyce told Rovers Player: "He's a class player, he's experienced, and he takes it all in his stride.

"He wasn't flustered, he has seen it all before and deals with everything that comes at him, so I'm very pleased.

"Yes he's a right back by nature but he just wants to play football. He's not at his best yet as he hasn't been playing regularly at Tottenham.

"So hopefully when he starts playing more regularly he'll start playing better and better."
