Blackburn to be without Grella for rest of season

Blackburn Rovers boss Steve Kean says that injury-prone midfielder Vince Grella will be sidelined for the remainder of the season.

The 31-year old Australian international has managed just seven appearances for the Rovers this season as he has been forced to deal with Achilles injuries.

Now it has been confirmed that the former Parma and Torino man will not get back on the pitch again during the 2010/11 campaign.

"Vince Grella has had an operation on his achilles tendon so he is going to be out for the season," Kean said ahead of the clash with Arsenal this weekend.

"It has been hard for Vinny because he's picked up lots of niggly injuries, then this one is a big operation on his achilles where they've actually had to remove the plantaris (a superficial muscle near the Achilles tendon).

"He's had that removed, so hopefully he can get some rehab under his belt and look forward an injury free season next season.

"But he won't play again this season."
