Blackburn battle to keep Man Utd, Spurs target Bentley

Blackburn Rovers boss Mark Hughes is ready to hand David Bentley a new contract.

The News of the World says Manchester United, Newcastle and Spurs have all been eyeing the England midfielder, who signed a new four-year contract last February.

But Rovers are ready to tear up that deal, offer him an extra year to take him up to 2012 and increase his wages to around £30,000 a week.
