Blackburn Rovers boss Mark Hughes admits he fielded enquiries for Roque Santa Cruz and David Bentley during the winter market.

Hughes told the Lancashire Evening Telegraph: "There was interest in a number of our players but we are not a selling club.

"If in the future that is something we have to do then we'll look at it, but we are not in that position as yet.

"If you look at Portsmouth's example, they've been able to generate money that has allowed them to do a different deal.

"In that instance, it's down to pure judgement about what quality you are losing and what quality you are bringing in.

"If I started to sell my assets then they'd have to be exceptional players who came in to replace them."
