Black only focused on next Birmingham game

Birmingham City coach Eric Black insists he's not thinking beyond today's game against Portsmouth.

Black is expected to follow Steve Bruce to Wigan Athletic, but he said: "I am not a high-profile name in football (so) that I can pick and choose what job I do.

"I will sit and wait. I've always had the philosophy to give my job 100% effort and not to focus too far ahead.

"It's obviously well documented that Steve Bruce wanted me to go with him to Wigan. But at the moment I am only concentrating upon what is happening at Birmingham City until someone tells me otherwise."

He added: "It's an emotional time when someone leaves a club where he has been for six years and been an exceptional and very successful manager like Steve Bruce.

"So it is obviously going to be a difficult time but we all have to focus on the game against Portsmouth.

"The players have responded magnificently. They are also playing for their positions in the Premiership."
