Birmingham City midfielder Fabrice Muamba is travelling north for talks with Bolton Wanderers today.
Megson has been on a break for the last fortnight but is now aiming to complete the signing of a player who impressed in the Premier League last term.
It is understood that a fee of £5million has been agreed between the clubs and a deal could be pushed through in the next 24 hours.
