Birmingham's Jerome puts it in perspective: No Liverpool player should dive

Birmingham City striker Cameron Jerome says it's disappointing to see a player from Liverpool indulge in diving.

David Ngog has outraged football over his tumble during Liverpool's 2-2 draw with Birmingham on Monday.

And Jerome told TalkSport: "Having seen it afterwards on the TV and stuff like that, it's obvious it wasn't a penalty. (Lee) Carsley has gone in and touched him but on closer inspection you can see it's clearly a dive. I was on the halfway line so I couldn't get a good view of it but the boys around it were adamant he didn't touch him so I think the referee's got it wrong there and I think he knows he's messed up there.

"I think it's disappointing to see people of that sort of calibre especially a player at Liverpool. Diving is terrible, it's not got a role in football whatsoever and I think the more and more it's happening now there be should be something done to punish these people who bring this to the game.

"Everyone made a big deal when Eduardo went down against Celtic in the Champions League but it's not up to me to say anybody should be banned or anyone should get punished or anything but I think it's happening more and more. It's one of those things that happens in football but it's not nice to be on the receiving end of it."
