Birmingham wrapping up deal for Villa defender Davies

Birmingham City are wrapping up a deal for Aston Villa defender Curtis Davies.

The Daily Mail says Davies will join Birmingham City today for £1.75million. The former West Brom captain, will become part of a select band of players to have represented all three west Midlands clubs when he leaves Aston Villa.

An injury to Scott Dann has left Alex McLeish short of cover in defence and he has moved ahead of Leicester City to secure his man in a deal that could eventually reach £2.5m.

Davies' move is not conditional on Seb Larsson moving in the other direction. Villa remain interested in the Sweden international who may now stay having reached the Carling Cup final.
