Birmingham City are ready to offer £8 million for Liverpool winger Ryan Babel.
The Daily Star says Blues boss Alex McLeish failed in an attempt to land Liverpool's Dutch World Cup star last January when he was priced out of a deal by Rafael Benitez.
But new Liverpool boss Roy Hodgson is looking to raise funds at Anfield to bring in his own players.
McLeish has already spent £12m on Nikola Zigic and Ben Foster, and he said: "We want to bring in another couple of bodies to the squad at least. We are trying to add more players."
