Birmingham City are keeping tabs on David Nugent's situation at Portsmouth.

The Birmingham Mail says Nugent's seemingly uncertain future at Portsmouth will have been noted by Brum boss Steve Bruce. Pompey manager Harry Redknapp is thought to want Nicolas Anelka from Bolton Wanderers and may have to offload Nugent.

Bruce urged the board to make a bid for Nugent in January when a new striker was required, but Preston North End's £6million price tag - the figure he cost Pompey in July - made it a no-go.
