Oldham Athletic's loan signing of Birmingham midfielder Neil Kilkenny has been delayed by Brum boss Steve Bruce.

Birmingham had previously given Oldham the go ahead to field the young midfielder in Tuesday's friendly against Sheffield Wednesday but they have since withdrawn permission.

With new signing Hossam Ghaly yet to receive a work permit, Bruce has drafted Kilkenny into his squad as they face simultaneous games against Peterborough and Dagenham - but he will complete his move on Thursday.
