Birmingham City have snapped up Fulham winger Hameur Bouazza on loan to the end of the season.
The winger, 23, has been on loan at Championship rivals Charlton since August, where he scored a stunning goal against Blues in a 3-2 defeat at St Andrews earlier in the season.
Charlton were hopeful of keeping the Algeria international on board but Alex McLeish has moved to secure his services as the midlands club go in search of promotion to the Premier League.
The Blues boss said: "I've looked at him for a couple of years now and I had him on the radar at Rangers. I thought he was a promising young player; quick, direct, knows the English system and can do a job when team work is required.
"He has done very well at Charlton. It was made clear to me that there was a clause that would allow him to move in January. I know Charlton probably feel aggrieved at it but we've done nothing wrong."
