Birmingham City are launching a £1.5 million bid for Rangers striker Kris Boyd.
The Sunday Mail says Blues boss Alex McLeish is desperate to add a proven scorer to his squad - despite City's stunning 11-game unbeaten run in the Premiership.
And the former Gers gaffer is set to move for the man he took to Ibrox in a £400,000 deal from Kilmarnock four years ago.
Boyd is in red-hot form and broke Henrik Larsson's SPL scoring record with a five-goal haul against Dundee United last week.
Big Eck is determined to land him after seeing a £2.5m transfer collapse last January when Boyd snubbed the personal terms.
Boyd is out of contract in the summer and the board might take the money now. Birmingham face competition from Newcastle, Hull, Sochaux and Bochum while other English clubs could step in.
