New Birmingham City signing Franck Queudrue admits he didn't see eye-to-eye with Fulham manager Lawrie Sanchez.

Queudrue said: "I was at Middlesbrough for five years and we won the Carling Cup and got to the final of the UEFA Cup two years ago.

"I decided after that I needed a change and Chris Coleman took me to Fulham but he was fired and Lawrie Sanchez came in.

"Unfortunately with some gaffers you don't always get on with them too well but that's life and you can't please everybody.

"But I've turned the page on that now, I want to start a new book with Birmingham and I hope to do well."

Queudrue, who has linked up with former Boro team-mate Stuart Parnaby, believes a strong defence will be crucial to Birmingham's chances of staying in the Barclays Premier League after being impressed by manager Steve Bruce.

He said: "I watched Steve Bruce when he used to play but I didn't know him as a manager. When he enquired about me, I was interested to speak with him.

"He explained what he is trying to do with Birmingham and that pleased me. After coming up from the Championship, the first aim is to stay in the Premier League and then continue to improve.

"To do that we have to be strong at the back and then, when we get one or two chances, we need to put at least one in the back of the net.

"When you are strong at the back you have more opportunities to win the game. On a personal level I hate losing and I'll never give up. That's not in my mentality."
