Birmingham City signing Scott Dann admits he's determined to heed the lesson taught him by Chelsea star Didier Drogba last season while playing with Coventry City in the FA Cup.

Dann told the Sunday Mercury: "Obviously it's quicker in the Premier League and if I was in that situation again I'd do something different. I didn't think he was close to me, I got caught out and you can't really argue, I had to hold my hands up.

"But I'll try my hardest to make sure nothing like that happens again.

"I definitely learnt a lot from that one match. It was just one of those things, in the Championship somebody might not have closed you down as quickly. I thought I had more time but I had my back to him and didn't see where he was coming from, he took the ball off me and went on and scored. I thought I had got back on the line to stop it but he smashed it in the top corner.

"That's just top players, he is one of the best strikers in the world. He has done that to many a centre-half, it was my mistake and you just move on. I don't let anything like that beat me up or get me down. It just makes me stronger and I will push on.

"Now I'm going to be playing against top players week in, week out and I can't wait, I'm relishing it and I'm just going to work on my fitness for the next couple of weeks and make sure I'm right for the start of the season."
