Birmingham City winger Sebastian Larsson could be on his way to Newcastle United for a bargain basement price according to reports.
The Sweden international is yet to sign a new deal with the Blues despite the club making clear their intentions to retain the services of their star man.
But fresh reports say that Newcastle have come in with a cut-price £1million offer and there is talk that the move is likely to go ahead.
Birmingham boss Alex McLeish did not seem too convinced that Larsson would remain at St Andrews but certainly had not given up hope.
"The latest with Seb is we gave his advisor permission to speak to Newcastle. Other than that, I've heard nothing," McLeish said.
"We came to a kind of impasse (over a new contract). I know Seb would like to stay but we'll just have to wait and see. There is nothing I can really add to that."
