Birmingham City players have dropped Christmas in order to recapture their best form.
Alex McLeish's squad has taken the collective decision to forego the traditional festive drinks after admitting their results have not been up to scratch.
Kevin Phillips, speaking at the club's 'Give-a-gift campaign,' said that he was pleased that supporters would not be seeing McLeish's players painting the town royal blue.
The veteran striker, 37, said: "We haven't had a Christmas night out this year because we didn't feel it was appropriate with where we were in the league, which I thought was very good.
"I've been at clubs where we have been scrapping around at the bottom and we've gone out for a Christmas do and some people can take that in the wrong light.
"You hear people ask: 'Why are they out enjoying themselves when they're in a relegation battle?' So we haven't done anything like that this year."
