Birmingham City boss Alex McLeish is playing a high risk game with Sebastian Larsson.
The Express & Star says McLeish does not expect any developments regarding Larsson's new contract until the next transfer window.
The Swede will be free to discuss a pre-contract with rival clubs from January 1.
