Birmingham must cough up big for Hoffenheim striker Ibisevic

Birmingham City have been frightened off of Hoffenheim striker Vedad Ibisevic by his £10 million asking price.

The News of the World says Birmingham boss Alex McLeish must now weigh up whether to invest such a big chunk of his January transfer funds on just one player.

McLeish has sent his scouts to make a number of checks on 6ft 2in Ibisevic. The latest was in Bosnia's 1-0 World Cup play-off defeat by Portugal this week.

Ibisevic, 25, began his career in the USA and has also played in France and Switzerland.
