Birmingham manager Alex McLeish wants to sign veteran defender David Weir from Rangers, claims the News of the World.

Ex-Ibrox boss McLeish is looking for an experienced defender to help the Championship side challenge for promotion to the Premiership next season.

Any move for Weir would face stiff competition from Stoke City and Preston who have both been linked with the player.
