Birmingham move for Man Utd's Fletcher

Birmingham City boss Alex McLeish is seeking a loan deal for Manchester United midfielder Darren Fletcher.

Big Eck, who played for Sir Alex Ferguson at Aberdeen in the 1980s, has had three weeks to assess his squad ahead of the transfer window.

And the former Rangers and Scotland boss knows all about Fletcher's qualities as he played a key role in the Scots' Euro 2008 qualifying campaign.

Fletcher would be McLeish's first signing since he replaced Steve Bruce last month.
