Birmingham City are preparing for life after Liam Ridgewell.
The Daily Mail says Chris Hughton is on the verge of making Jonathan Spector Birmingham's latest Bosman signing.
The United States defender, 25, left West Ham in the summer and would boost a defence set to lose Ridgewell to West Bromwich Albion.
Former Manchester United junior Spector had also been linked with a move to MLS.
