Birmingham head of recruitment Paul Montgomery admits he is flattered by interest from Premier League champions Chelsea. Skysports.com reports that Chelsea had targeted Montgomery as a potential successor to Frank Arnesen, who is leaving Stamford Bridge at the end of the season.
"It's flattering that a club like Chelsea seems to have noticed my work," he said.
"However, I came to do a job at Birmingham with a manager I respect and like as a person - and I would like to finish what I have only just started.
"We are looking to build up a recruitment network here that will improve things for Birmingham.
"A lot of hard work has already gone in, and there is plenty still to be done."
Montgomery is now working hard on potential targets for the Blues in January and revealed they had a host of youngsters lined up for trials.
"We've got three Slovenian under-21 internationals, two Portugal under-19 internationals, a French under-18 international and a Swiss under-17 coming over in January for us to have a look at," he said.
"So it's not only about the established players but the younger ones too."
