Birmingham fullback Carr: Staying up enough for this season

Stephen Carr believes Birmingham City should be satisfied with beating the drop this season, despite the arrival of new owner Carsen Yeung.

After a run of three straight league defeats, encouraging displays against Sunderland and Manchester City, that yielded four points from six, have given Blues renewed optimism.

Brum vice-captain Carr told the Birmingham Mail: "At the moment we're a club that's just come into the Premier League and our main objective is to stay up, anything else is a bonus.

"If we came fourth from bottom I'd happily settle for that. The first year is very hard. This club has been going up and down over the last few years and it needs some stability of staying in the Premier League.

"With the new owners and their financial backing, hopefully we can move on from there. To me it would be a big accomplishment if this club stays in the division because we haven't spent that much money at the end of the day."
