Newcastle have rejected Birmingham's request to sign Nile Ranger on loan, reports Skysports. Birmingham are short of options in attack, but are also thought to be struggling financially, were keen on taking Ranger on a six-month loan.
However, Newcastle have rejected their offer as they will only consider a permanent deal for the 20-year-old this summer.
Ranger, who has also attracted interest from Blackpool this summer, is thought to be surplus to requirements at St James' Park, with the player not figuring in Alan Pardew's plans.
