Birmingham to come in with new improved offer for Hibs' Calderwood

English Championship club Birmingham City are still keen to bring Hibernian boss Colin Calderwood across as assistant manager.

New Brum gaffer Chris Hughton wants to reunite with Calderwood after the pair guided Newcastle United back to the Premier League in 2010 but has so far failed in his attempts to do so.

Recent reports suggest that Birmingham will return with a bid of £400,000 after having their initial offer of £300,000 rejected.

Calderwood says he won't leave Hibs, who is contracted to until 2013, unless chairman Rod Petrie gives him the all-clear but it appears that Birmingham are desperate to have him come to St Andrew's to join Hughton's support staff.
