Birmingham City are swooping for Hibs fullback David Murphy.

The Mirror says Murphy is set to complete a £1.5m move to Birmingham in the next 48 hours.

City boss Alex McLeish has returned with an improved offer to Hibernian for the highly-rated defender and expects the move to be sealed today.

Former Middlesbrough trainee Murphy was wanted by Celtic, Rangers, Wigan and Bolton but has chosen to link up with the former Scotland coach.
