Birmingham chief Brady can't see Newcastle tempting Wigan's Bruce

Birmingham City managing director Karren Brady believes Newcastle United are unlikely to tempt Steve Bruce away from Wigan Athletic.

In her diary for The Sun, Karren wrote: "Steve said 'no' to them when he was our manager at St Andrew's, turning down a massive sum of money out of loyalty to the Blues and, in self-interest, too - as he had been gaining a reputation for club-hopping.

"I have no idea whether Steve could work with Newcastle owner Mike Ashley. Anyway, the financial circumstances are very different because Wigan are paying their manager extremely well.

"There will be a big temptation, though, because, after the England job, nothing would be closer to his heart than managing the club he grew up supporting."
