Birmingham chairman Gold eyes Brighton investment

Birmingham City chairman David Gold is eyeing a stake in Brighton.

The Mirror says Gold, his brother Ralph and their fellow St Andrews majority shareholder David Sullivan are set to sell their remaining 46.4 per cent stake in Blues to Hong Kong tycoon Carson Yeung later this year.

And Gold has already been sounded out by people close to the Seagulls as Football League rules do not allow simultaneous involvement in more than one club. Gold is keen on Brighton due to his ties with the region and Albion's potential.

Building work on the club's new stadium at Falmer is due to begin next year.
