Birmingham boss Alex McLeish revealed Martin Taylor would remain at the club for the rest of the season after admitting he had planned to move him on.
"But if I couldn't get that centre-half, then I said I would keep Tiny.
"He has trained with us and he has never been out of our plans. We've always kept him involved.
"I thought at his age, he should keep playing, rather than being third or fourth choice, and it was only a business decision that we didn't get the man we wanted.
"Tiny has come in and he has shown all his good experience. He showed it against two quick forwards. He had a good game and I don't think he put a foot wrong.''
