Birmingham City boss Alex McLeish has ruled out a seventh-place finish for his side despite the fact they defeated Portsmouth 2-1 at Fratton Park.
The Blues were led by Cameron Jerome who netted a brace and although they recorded another three points, McLeish the task of trying to overhaul Midlands rivals Aston Villa will prove too difficult.
"I don't think seventh place is realistic," he said.
"You'll see sides that get to Europe usually have a striker who scores around 16 goals."
But McLeish was still very happy with his side's performance as their status in the top flight seems to be set in stone for next season.
"We played some excellent football in the first half. We carved some great chances and probably could have been out of sight at half-time," he added.
"To go in 2-0 at half-time I thought was well-deserved. With each victory we get, we set new targets. But there are some fantastic challenges ahead of us."
