Birmingham City boss Alex McLeish is convinced Roger Johnson is capable of playing for England.

The centre-half, who came as a bargain £5million buy from Cardiff will be one of only a handful of players who have appeared in every minute of every Premier League game for their club if he completes 90 minutes at Bolton today.

McLeish said: "Roger's been frustrated over the last few years he's not been able to get to the Premier League earlier in his career. Now he's got there, he's taken full advantage. He's been outstanding.

"As a defender, him and Scott Dann are almost a throwback - heading, kicking, they throw themselves on the line.

"If you're talking about England being the next step then he needs another season like this one.

"For international football you look for different attributes but nothing will stick out more than Roger having another top, solid, consistent season."
