Birmingham City boss Alex McLeish is anxious about having final say on new signings.
McLeish is keen to get the players he wants rather than glamorous ageing superstars chasing a bumper pay-day.
And he has noted Alan Curbishley won his case against West Ham for constructive dismissal over the club's transfer dealings.
"I think it will be important I have the final say but I have been assured that that is the case," said McLeish. "It is topical after what happened with Alan Curbishley but I have had assurances. I pick the players that will enhance the team.
"If there are players that Carson or people in China have identified that we can look at then I am all for that.
"We have to be open-minded to have a look at one or two players. We may agree on something on a player but I want the final say."
